Create With Kate Winter Christmas Party

Hi everyone. I've just found a way to blog from my phone. I know you'll all say"any one can do that" but now I can do that so that's why it's so cool! I just need to figure out if I can add photos straight from the phone? Felicia and I are very busy at the moment getting the decorating for next week's party in the Hudson bay hotel sorted for kate's Christmas party next Sunday. Be sure to book your place so you'll be guaranteed a goodie bag. I tried my hand at silk painting on Friday and I have to say I am hooked. I can't wait to try it at home once I talk hubbie into building a few frames for us. I'll try to take a photo of my scarf now. We'll see how that turns out.

A great day out and we even had sat nav,,, and it worked! For anyone who hasn't been you should try to get to the knitting and stitching show next year in the RDS from Thursday to Sunday.
The next day out is November 16th when Felicia will be teaching a workshop on a journal for 2014. It will be in Whitechurch National School, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, from 10.00 until 4.00. For any enquiries ring me on 085.2801937 or email me mididepaor@hotmail.com

Tuesday 1 October 2013

Hello everyone, I have no phone at the minute so I can't add my photos. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to. We had a brilliant day last Saturday with Felicia Thomas. We did a haunted house. It's brilliant. I want to try one of the houses but do it in a Christmas, Santy house theme or maybe a wedding house theme. anyway i'll think about it and see what i'll do.
I'm really looking forward to the weekend. Create with Kate is holding a CHA release party with lots of classes and makes'n'takes. all weekend in Athlone. Hope to see you all there, Midi.

The parents assoc. in the National School where we do the classes are organising a book sale for the weekend of the 27th and 28th of September. There are some lovely books and some very unusual books.

We will have extra space to craft for anyone who wants to come for the chat but not do the class. come along, drink tea, shop if you like, we'll have a full craft shop here on the day. We'll have all the tools you need for all the classes but bring along your own bits n bobs so you're not waiting in a queue for someone else to finish.

The 4th and 5th of September will be a brilliant weekend in Athlone; Kate of 'Create with Kate is organising a weekend in the Hudson Bay Hotel. Lots of classes and lots more shopping. A crafting space if you don't want to do any class, bring your own project to work on. I was at her last weekend on the 8th of September and I got very little of my project finished because we spent the entire time talking, and looking at what everyone else was doing. http://createwithkate.wordpress.com/author/createwithkate/

Lots more news to follow, Felicia has other classes booked with us, Betty Cummiskey will be coming down to do a flower arranging class, you'll be doing the project and bringing it home with you, not just sitting looking, a wonderful class with Patricia O'Leary, Wednesday nights we have art club, ome along, drink tea and paint. Join Lyn's class from 7.30 to 9.30 and bring home some beautiful and useful papercrafts. I'll be filling in more details so check in as the weeks go on to see what else we're up to.

Wednesday nights we have a painting class in Whitechurch National School, Ballinameela, Co Waterford. This week Tracy joined us and she and I ended up doing a little bit of scrapbooking. Here are a couple of photos of what we came up with. We had painting supplies and not much in the way of scrapbooking so I think the results are pretty good.

This photo shows Rebecca Farrell and Edith Harty, Edith seems to be the only one working in any of the photos?? And some more cups!

The photo below shows, Midi Walsh, Kate Walsh (Create with Kate) and Edith Harty. I see more cakes and cups then crafting at this table

The photo below shows, Karen Mathews, Gwen Waagner, Cathy Woods, Midi Walsh, Kate Walsh (Create with Kate)

Last Tuesday Kate from Create with Kate was on holiday with her family in the Dungarvan Area. I invited her out to do some crafting and got the word out to fellow crafters; what followed was what could hardly be called a crafty day but more of a tea, buns, tart, biscuit and did I say tea session. Very little crafting was done but we nearly ran out of milk at one stage. It was a lovely day, meeting old friends and making new ones.

This is a sample of what we could be doing with Felicia Thomas during the next meeting of craft club waterford. Felicia will be doing this sort of mini book and as usual we will have a full shop and lots of tea coffee and buns. places will have to be limited this time as there are some fiddley bits so get your name to felicia or me and we'll keep a seat and a cup for you. midi. 085.2801937 ·

Saturday 24th August

10-4 o'clock.

€30 full kit provided.

This is one of the cards Edith made at an Yvonne Tune day last week. It's lovely, I'll post a few more of them soon, Thanks to Yvonne, Roberta and Margaret for all their help.
This is a box I did for class last Thursday, we really had a lovely class. I painted the box with blue pearlescent acrylic paint, then a little bit of purple in places over that. I stuck on some lovely cat pictures I had and then covered the whole box in watered down pva glue. I'm planning on a bigger box with little door knobs as feet, but that's for another day.

.

I just put up a picture of the canvas we did last Thursday in class. I painted the canvas in pearlescent acrylic paints,  I glued paper and fabric flowers and a butterfly die cut from card stock. I painted over the flowers in one colour; purple and then painted over individual ones in different colours. I did the same with the butterfly and outlined everything with a dark blue ink outside each flower etc. I then went around the edge of each piece in white gel pen. The outlining makes all the difference, it was very flat until then, it just lifted it. Next week we'll be working with heat embossing, the possibilities are endless. If you want to come to a class ring me on 085.2801937

click on the link above to find details of the class I'm going to with Yvonne Tune on Saturday, I'm looking forward to a relaxing day with lovely people, and a little bit of retail therapy. I'll post photos next week.
Hi everyone, I have some bits of news. Ballinameela Art Club meet every Wednesday night from 7.30 to 9.30. Everyone is welcome, come along, have a cup of tea and see what we're at. We have a group of painters who meet every week and in September the crafters will be back to keep us company again from the second Wednesday in September. It is all very informal, you don't even need to bring anything along with you, see where you would like to sit in and do a bit, if you like it come back next week, if not, no problem. Most of us are going to go to the American Tea party being held in the Community Centre next door on Friday night. I'm hosting a table with Janice, it'll be lovely, for those of you who haven't been to one, you're more than welcome. The host decorates the table and provides a main course, usually consisting of cold meat salad, and then desert, tea and coffee. The Committee in the Community Centre are hoping to do this every year so we need to set a high standard this year to get the ball rolling. Janice and I will be bringing a bottle of wine or two so if anyone wants any more than that they are more than welcome to bring their own. There will be background music to give a nice atmosphere. Rumour has it that babysitters are being booked to stay very late on Friday night as most of the tables are going to settle in for a late night. It only costs €10 and all proceeds go to the Community Centre, so a good idea all round.

Janice and I will be getting home to bed early however as we are attending Yvonne Tune's class in Kilkenny on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to a nice relaxing day with the ladies, catching up with some people I haven't met in ages. It promises to be a lovely day. We will bring any deserts left over from the night before with us to share to help get the creative juices flowing. I'm looking forward to looking around Marion's shop, I think I might be a bit low on some things! ha ha, as if! but sure it would be rude to go there and buy nothing! So some nice things planned; I'm really looking forward to them, give me a text or call on 085.2801937 if you want any details on any of these happenings.
Happy Crafting, Midi.

Class updates.

Hello, I just thought I would keep all of you up to date. I've nearly gone mad trying to get photos onto here so I'll possibly get someone to help me over the weekend. I have so much to show everyone. Felicia came up from Kerry last Saturday to do a full day in the school in Ballinameela, it was so relaxing and enjoyable. We had square cut folders and music sheets and came up with the coolest journals, I really enjoyed it. Felicia brought her shop so I had a little bit of a nosey and couldn't let her go without purchasing some of the lovely prima papers she had with her.
On Sunday then we had our last ever Scrap n Yap. We're not getting the numbers so we just can't keep it going. I had a summery lemon and turquoise layout with accents of chocolate brown, I'm hoping to get the photos of it in here over the weekend. I also brought some cards if anyone wanted to make cards, and I used the papers I bought from Felicia the day before. So sadly Scrap n Yap is no more, I would like to thank everyone who did take part and taught classes over the last year while I was looking after it, I really enjoyed it and hopefully we will all meet up at different crafty things in the future.
Tomorrow Christmas is hitting my house with a bang; we will be making four Christmas cards and when they are done we will be working on our own creations for the rest of the evening. Starting at ten and finishing at four, I'm really looking forward to it. I've even threatened to pull out the Christmas CD's and really get a feel for Christmas!
Finally my other news is that we are running a Craft Village in Ardmore, Co Waterford on July 28th from ten in the morning until five. We will be in the primary school as part of the Ardmore Pattern Festival, with Create with Kate and her shop, Felicia Thomas from Kerry, Betty Cummiskey and Karen Mathews and Lyn Hayes with her up cycle and recycle, and I think I've twisted Lyn's arm to do a little bit of a cake decorating demo. All the demonstrations will be free, and we will have a little coffee shop selling tea, coffee, buns, cakes, and whatever else we can think of between now and then.
Check in here and I'll have updates after the weekend on how the Christmas day went.
Happy Crafting, Midi.

Sunday 30 June 2013

Hi everyone, I say everyone, I'm asuming someone is going to read this, anyway, Scrap n Yap is on next Sunday in the Cork International Airport Hotel. It starts at one o'clock and finishes at five, you can come in any time you don't have to be there by one, and you don't have to stay for the full day. two or three of us will be having food in the bar beforehand so if anyone is early call in for a coffee, you'll know us by the crafty bags we have with us. Due to demand I will be doing a card making class too at the same time; don't worry scrapbookers I will always have a layout even if we are doing cards too. I'll be putting a picture of the bits 'n' bobs I've used for the layout here in just a few minutes as soon as I figure it out. text or ring me on 085.2801937 if you want to join us on Sunday.
Happy Crafting,
Midi.

Update.

Hello everyone,
I think it's been way too long since I added anything to this blog, I've just finished the layout for the Scrap n Yap in the Cork International Airport Hotel tomorrow week. It's a really nice layout with papers from Prima in lovely fresh summery lemon and turquise colours. I'll have sneek peeks of it up here later. I have photos to put up too of the last Scrap 'n' Yap, I had a very Finibaresque type layout, it was a lot of fun to make. While everyone was doing the layout in the kit I had time to finish another layour I had started in the same style, so I'll have those photos later. Because so many people have been asking I'm going to do a card class on Sunday week too. We will be working from 1.00 o'clock until 5.00, so I'll have loads of time to show the scrap book layout and do the cards too. I was going to use the same kit for both, but I've been asked not to so next week you will  be able to get a layout kit or a card making kit, both of which you will have loads of time to finish. If anyone has any queries or wants to book in; please text or ring me on 085.2801937 or email me on  mididepaor@hotmail.com
